| Bro CJ8, Here i think no need to hide price like the some "other club" coz its a forum. Muffler & Mid pipe RM900 & Extractor RM480. I did my HB extractor at Wai Yip 1st then was not satisfy, decided to change all to HB at a later stage. Now i'm happy with especially the low exhaust note. Btw nice to see u here too! | |

| Can ask dummy question, does changing the tip of muffler affect the sound output? Coz the HB set i got cam with an ugly tip unlike the 1st batch. | |

| Changing the tip of muffler should not affect the exhaust sound unless it interferes with the flow of the air. | |

| I noticed that the HB set when cruising at 180kmh-185kmh, gives out a certain engine feel that tell ya to "push" it further instead of keepin at that speed. I've been encountering this the last 2 nites coming back from between 12-2am in the morning. 2 encounters, with both 2.0G and 2.4V Camry which i was playin wit this time alone.
Both occasion, managed to achieved only 210-215kmh max due to playin around and limited road on the way back. Anyone got this "feel"?
Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Just for everyone's info : Those pics Donny posted above are the original batch of HB exhaust. There have been 2 significant changes since then as far as I know :
1) The pineapple has had a change 2) the mid-box (after the pineapple) has had a re-design; it now looks like a bullet instead of the big box as per Dopnny's pic above
I recently had to spend RM6xx (warranty already expired i.e. > 1 yr) to replace the entire mid-section because the mid-box was faulty (there was a worrying noise when accelerating and there was a loss in power). This was when I first noticed the new mid-box design.
I don't have pics of the new mid-box now; I had posted pics of the new bullet-shaped mid-box on my FB wall some time back already.

| Any difference in torque and power feel btw the 1st and the 2nd HB version? 2nd version probably has less vibrations due to a diff pineapple design? | |

| I paid a visit to Speedworks this morning. This was because there was this irritating noise whenever I press the accelerator. Yes, this happened again, after I had changed the mid section in late Feb.
Turns out now that the flexible (i.e. "pineapple") was faulty.
Now, I was amongst the very first to install HB exhaust when it first came out for the Lancer (the others were Justin/Nits, Donny, and a few others that I hv forgotten). Back then, the flexible was also faulty; it gave irritating noise after hard acceleration (Nits and me both discovered this after a drag session soon after installing the HB). Speedworks said that the flexible had a "missing part". They repaired the flexible.
Now, today, they said that the flexible that they had repaired in 2008 is at fault and that it will cost me RM80 to replace it. I tried to explain to them that the flexible I had was a "repaired" flexible. They said that there was no other option i.e. even though it was a repaired flexible, the flexible had been used by me for well over a year now and warranty is over.
I couldn't be bothered to talk anymore and just paid for the new flexible.
They removed the extractor, cut off the flexible and super-glued on the new flexible (hehe, OK, I made that up... solder).
NOTE that the flexible in Stinger now is actually longer than the original flexible, probably about 2-inches longer. I dunno if later batches of the HB extractor (of which the flexible is a part of) already has this coz I had never checked about later batches/versions.

| what i saw in the pic, the flexible pineaple was short. not same size with mine.
mine installed at Boostzone Jb, pineaple size more longer around 1-2 inch. more longer flexible size, more space to it to flexi due to vibration.

Nolah.. my last piece of mod is the HB mid pipe & mufller liao.. Hands chopped and enough liao.. kekeke.. I've also recently changed my pineapple.. after my last trip back to Penang, the pickup noise sounded weird.. I thought there was a leak somewhere and went to Ah Yew (Glenmarie) to have it checked.. turn out my pineapple leak.. Althought my extractor wasn't new.. (bought second hand, only bought mid pipe and muffler from Ah Yew).. he helped me made arrangments to have it replaced for free (warranty).. hehehe.. End up i insisted to pay him workmanship charges that cost RM40.. no complains from me at all.. hehehe.. And yes, the new pineapple is about 2-3inches longer..

| normal practice was no muffler & piping arrangement below fuel tank. to avoid overheat from xzos to fuel tank. that y all car manufacturer engineer did design xzos layout apposite side of fuel tank. some manufacturer design muffler in middle like minicooper, but stil not under fuel tnk. i saw some non knowledgeble modder mod their xzos pipe & muffler under f tank. | |
