Pivot 3-Drive Throttle Controller Empty
PostSubject: Pivot 3-Drive Throttle Controller   Pivot 3-Drive Throttle Controller EmptyThu Nov 05, 2009 12:34 pm

Throttle Controllers serves a few functions, but primarily they are products created due to owners of automatic transmission cars that seem to have a lacklustre throttle response.

For a CVT car like the Lancer, this product will particularly help to reduce the perceived lag when accelerating. Other than throttle controllers, the only other real alternative would be to go for computer management (piggybacks, reflashes).

The Pivot 3-Drive (P3D) comes with a display and control unit, as well as harness dedicated to various car makes (including, of course, the 9th Gen Lancer). The display/control unit can be placed anywhere within the cockpit area, while the harness should be tucked away somewhere so as not to intrude upon the aesthetics of the car interior (in most lancers, the harness is usually installed underneath the steering column).

The P3D is cool in a way and different from other throttle controllers in that the display/control unit actually shows you the throttle opening in percentages (in every 5-degree steps). So when you are accelerating, you will be able to see your Lancer's throttle opening. This has been particularly useful to me, since there have been times when I had thought I was flooring the pedal but when I looked at the P3D display, it showed I was only at 90% throttle... so I needed to step on it a bit more to reach full throttle.

Here's how the display/control unit looks like after installation :

I have sold the P3D and I have noticed something which I am not sure is true or not... even though the P3D removed, Stinger like still more responsive than before I installed the P3D... dunno la true or not or if I'm wrong.

Got such thing as our ECU learning while the P3D was installed and then when the P3D was removed, the throttle response is now better? :/

The Unichip of course improved throttle response. But I installed Unichip before I installed the P3D. The P3D = even better response. But after removing the P3D, I feel like the response is still better than after I installed Unichip and before I installed the P3D. Dunno la true or not...

The short story is that I don't really miss the P3D lo... Smile

i used HAC for few mnths, then i changed to P3D, becoz of the looks. and i think both brands are almost the same in term of good throttle response. Beware! i heard, now P3D got replica (china made), 99% looks same as Japan P3D.

bro, few performance shops in JB sell it. Vox (Jln Keris) & Autobach (Jln Tebrau) also sell it.

new Jpn P3D price range is around 850-950.

Replica will b cheaper than that. but dun lie ourself.. get the ori, u'll appreciate it. Pivot 3-Drive Throttle Controller Icon_smile

I think there's one wire (reverse light) that needs to be tapped (= cut) if you want the P3D to revert to Normal mode when reversing.

bro elan was true.. unichip did her job well to configure back our ecu setup for the best AF consumption
in every 500rpm stage start from 3000-6499rpm.

anyway, u can use throttle controller as a weapon for boosting initial pickup launch xpecially in traffic light
side by side drag. but not with wiralution lorr.. hehe

impotantly, unichip helping for overall car performance..
throttle controller help mostly in initial pickup til midrange only, not for top end.
