Anyone here been to MALDIVES?

Need some feedback on how much need to be spend.

Maldives, my opinion is to go and get a package tour where by everything included (pao ka liao)... Reason is because once you are on an island, you need to dine and use the facilities in the resort. Bear in mind that you will be spending USD there...

So advise is go to a tour operator and get a package.

Another thing which you need to bear in mind is that in Maldives there are a lot of islands... You will probably be staying in an Island which you can complete walking around the whole island within 15 to 20 minutes. Capital of Maldives is Male and you can walk across the island from 1 end to the other within 2 hours. So imagine how big is the island you will be staying...

There will be nothing much to do in Maldives unless you are a diver or you enjoy water sports stuff. do bear in mind additional activities means spending in USD. Maldives is also a good place to relax and get away from world. Also a good place for you to make babies ... Other than that really nothing much in Maldives (unless you come across a group of Japanese girls staying on the same island...)

No worries Daniel, I don't know the exact cost... I was there on a project and all expenses are Pao Ka Liao by the hotel... Just want to give a heads up that the place although is beautiful but can be boring to some...

Maybe you can check out Club Med... That is if they are still around since Club Med specializes in creating activities when you stay there... Last time I was there many years back I was told that the island where Club Med was on is sinking bit by bit... not sure if they are still operating there...

Anyway, i feel that it's a beautiful place and a heaven on earth (scenery & nature).. I can just lepak at the beach and do nothing for a few days... (I can't swim.. hahaha... This is one of the places I must visit before I kick the bucket..

Yeah Daniel, was there setting up systems... Also had the opportunity to fly on taxi there... What I mean is that taxi's in Maldives are those plane that lands on the sea/water... Off topic a bit... but if you love beaches, you might want to consider Koh Samui... beer is cheaper there and thai massage...

Yeah, being a Penang boy, I love clean and natural beaches ..been to a few beaches around the region.. the best value for money is Lang Tengah..

But I have to agree, Thailand has the best massage but cheapest beer & cigarettes still have to be Indonesia.. hehehe..
