Lancer's ASC - Active Skid Control available?

Is there ASC function in a normally aspirated (NA) Lancer? If you're thinking of DIYing, the answer is going to be dissapointing. There is NONE built in.

In all the NA Lancer variants sold worldwide, ASC is not available (even as an option or in highest spec). Refer to Mitsubishi USA for details / brochure.

The service manual for ASC is Group 35C - Active Skid Control System (ASC) which is not available NA Lancers. It is however, available in the Evolution variants and 4B12 variants.

The braking system of the NA Lancer typically consist of the following: -

1) Wheel speed sensor
2) Magnetic encoder for wheel speed detection (also known as ABS sensor)
3) Stop light switch

What are the additional sensors needed for ASC?

1) ASC ECU
2) G and Yaw Rate sensors
3) Steering wheel sensor
4) Master cylinder pressure sensor
5) Wheel cylinder pressure sensor

Take note, for NA Lancers manufactured post 2009, this ASC function may be available.

To find out quickly whether your car can have ASC, the ASC-ECU is located next to the hydraulic unit.

Oh, btw, do note too that there must be a dash indicator for ASC (which is a picture of a skidding car).
