| The original car bettery on my Lancer died after approximately 20-months and 39,000km usage. Now, battery life can vary from car-to-car because it will depend on the number of stuff you have installed in your car. An example would be ICE mods.
After the battery died, I started thinking whether there was any kinda indication (that the battery was gonna KO) other then the usual stuff like longer time to crank. I couldn't think of any at first. But after I installed a new battery, I remembered something.
The few weeks prior to the battery's death, I found that when I insert the car key and switch it on (but BEFORE cranking), the usual ting-ting-ting seatbelt warning sound will come on (if you haven't belted up before you start your Lancer). When I then crank the car, the seatbelt warning sound will STOP AND THEN RE-START once the car is cranked.
With the new battery installed, the seatbelt warning sound does not stop and re-start; it just continues along in an unbroken melody from the time you switch on the car/electricals to the time you crank.
Hope you get what I mean. I know that a lotta you just insert key and crank almost immediately. Try inserting key, switch on the car but don't crank first (and don't wear your seatbelt first). Listen to the seatbelt warning sound and while it is "playing" go and crank; see if the sound is stopped and then re-started. If it doesn't do this, then maybe your car bettery is still pretty decent. If the sound stops and restarts, then your car battery may just be about to be deep-sixed. | |

| Good information. I tried your technique last night and the seatbelt warning sound beep without any intervals when I crank the engine during the ting-ting-ting period. So I guess my battery is still in good condition. | |

| Hi members, a lot of ting-ting-ting and my brain goes ping ping ping... Good suggestion on this point. Will keep track of this point. I monitor the battery strength/voltage using a volt meter and also on the display of the MegaRaizin. So far so good in my lancer. | |

| Well, I just test my battery, its weak and the plugs firing after cold starts were erratic. The welcome indicators were still there though. | |
